Rachel is the Head of the All Wales Genetic Diagnostic Laboratory. The accredited laboratory provides genetic diagnostic analyses for both common and rare genetic conditions, and increasingly personalised medicine targets, handling over 25,000 samples each year.

 

Rachel is a grant holder for a number of stratified medicine clinical trials, including the prestigious CRUK Stratified Medicine Programme. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists, has a keen interest in EQA and is the current chair of the UK NEQAS Molecular Pathology SAG.

She represents the Royal College on SAGs for both Genetics and Molecular Pathology, and is the first chair of examiners for the FRCPath in Molecular Pathology. Rachel is currently leading on the Welsh strategy for Genetics and Genomics.
